This session was the first business class we had. Although I am not planning to pursue in business, I had a good time leaning about this side of fashion. We started the session learning about trend forecasting, mood boards and color palettes. Later on, we chose a hashtag from WGSN and make a mood board about it. After that we learned about clothing market structure and we wrote examples of shops that go into different categories such as value market and middle market. Last of all we learned about the marketing mix and we did an activity where we pitch a retailer and make a marketing mix for them.
Me and my friend Sarah decided to choose #Newstalgia for our mood board. I had a great time choosing the color pallets and different photos for the mood board. It was great to learn about pantone, which is very useful to know. The task we did afterwards which was writing down brands for each market structure was very important because at first, we were not sure where to put which brand, but after we understood it was very easy and from now on, I will easily separate them. While we were doing our marketing mix, I decided to choose Saint Laurent which is a high-end brand. I didn’t enjoy doing it that much especially the research part took a very long time so I didn’t have much time for the actual slide. I also had trouble writing about the promotion strategies of the brand because I couldn’t find much information on the internet. To not have the same problem in the future I will search with keywords because I think the best results come up that way. İn the future I will not spend as much time on only one question, I will divide my time equally.
İn conclusion, this was a good session for experience and It was great to see this side of fashion. Although I enjoyed the session, I realized that I prefer the other branches much more.
